Speaking of the British...

Censorship this time...

[Quote] Britain's film board banned the sale of a Japanese horror DVD, saying Wednesday its violence is so extreme that it could cause psychological harm to audiences.

The film "Grotesque" is devoted most of its running time to the sexual assault and torture of its two main characters, the British Board of Film Classification said.

"'Grotesque' features minimal narrative or character development and presents the audience with little more than an unrelenting and escalating scenario of humiliation, brutality and sadism," the board said in a statement.

The film cannot be legally sold or supplied anywhere in Britain.

The board said the movie's nonstop scenes of torture -- including amputation, eye-gouging, castration and evisceration -- make it impossible to edit the film in a way which would make it acceptable for British viewers. [End Quote]

I vehemently oppose censorship and whilst there is little that can be done about the quality and accuracy of information disseminated down to the masses, tolerating it is the same as agreeing to it. Your choice is what matters.

I'm not too surprised it's the Japs this time... this sort of stuff probably seems normal after their efforts in WWII. No, you're not forgiven.

Uncensored trailer here... (there is one ad popup)

Enjoy!

Rock legends and war history?

Two things I enjoy very much have been fused together in this youtube video...

Iron Maiden's Paschendale nicely combined with "All quiet on the Western Front" [TV-Remake from 1980] is one of many such videos.

Thanks Matt for that and for pointing out: Only the canadians broke the germans at Paschendale after 16K casualties, only for the british to lose it 2 weeks later.

Google Henry Patch.

Never forget those who served and allow you to sit your soft ass in a comfortable chair and enjoy a good life. Teach your children... ignorance is not an excuse for repeating mankinds mistakes.

Cheers.

Good weekend?

Summer finally arrived in Ottawa this week... the weekend saw temperatures of 32 and 34 degrees C burn my Canadian-esque skin pretty good. I don't quite glow in the dark yet, but it's unavoidable when you hibernate for more than half the year.

Saturday was a helicopter event at my club. I don't fly those bizzare contraptions but went to shoot it anyways, check out the pics here...

BBQ steak dinner at a buddys house afterwards made for a great day.

Sunday saw some flying and once again, I managed to rip the landing gear off my Ultimate, or the yellow scurge as is now known.

Not a biggie except that I am flying it at an event this weekend and the design is very weak around the landing gear.

Tonight will see time spent in the shop welding some kind of aluminium bracket to spread the load and hopefully keep it in one damn piece...

See what happens...

TGIF

Funny how you work more during a short week... guess that is the way it goes for having an extra day off.

I'm in training all next week, so that will be a welcome break from the grindstone.

Oops! Did you see 61 year old rock legend Steve Tyler fell off the stage at the Buffalo Chip gig? The show did not go on...

Aide says Pakistani Taliban leader Mehsud is dead - Good.

3 British troops killed in southern Afghanistan - Not good.

Have a good weekend all...

PS: What the hell is this?

Happy Hiroshima Day...

August 6, 1945 Harry S Truman gives the go-ahead to drop one of two atomic bombs on Japan.

Today 64 years ago, Prime Minister Ito Hirobumi probably looked out the window and uttered the Japanese equivalent of "Oh fuck..."

Little boy,
as it was known, was 3m long, 71cm in diameter and carried 64Kg of uranium-235. Here's an interesting fact... of this uranium mass, only 0.6g was converted to energy post nuclear fission.

0.6g is equivalent to 15 drops of water.

The end result of this bomb, and then the dropping of Fat man (15% larger) three days later on Nagasaki forced the empire of Japan to surrender on August 14, 1945.

Now for all of those who throw their hands in the air and wail about the humanity of it all, shut up.

If it wasn't for this chain of events you would be speaking German or Japanese whilst sitting in your comfy Uchi or Haus anywhere in the world.

There is no love lost on the Japanese for me. My grandfather suffered along with thousands of soldiers at the hands of the Japanese in the pacific in WWII and with war history being a hobby of mine for years now, I could show you things they did that would make you throw up.

Yeah, yeah... 'we' did bad stuff too, blah blah...

Did you also know that war history, in particular the horrors of war and including Hitler's nearly successful attempt to completely eradicate the Jewish race is no longer being taught is school? No war, no holocaust... how long before no 911?

We are destined to repeat our mistakes.

Food for thought...

Good day

Doghouse...

Perhaps it was the ridiculous levels of estrogen, or maybe it was just because they deserved it...

Nuff said.

On a very funny note, the guys who invented this next generation workout device for women, was a genius who was probably married!

Yes, I said was.

Good day people.

Woof.

Pretty good weekend...

... can't complain to three days off courtesy of Canada's Civic holiday.

The IMAC National Scale Aerobatic Competition (RC planes) decended on our field for four days, effectively shutting us down for flying, but did bring lots of huge planes and excellent pilots to the area.

I spent a few hours Saturday taking pictures like this Sample shot (more here).

Monday holiday did allow some flying despite the weather. Oh, did I mention Ottawa has broken the record for the highest rainfall in summer since god was a small boy?

The rest of the weekend was spent building my Americas Cup yacht, ETNZ NZL-92 (weather appropriate hobby) which is progressing well.

Monday always see a few emails that amuse me, here is Tuesdays:

Todays piss off is you Ottawa...

Not just today but most days. Why?

Consumerism. Is that a real word? I am a consumer. I want and need to buy things. Seems pretty simple doesn't it, well let me tell you it is not. Liken it to trying to buy rockinghorse shit from a traveling snake oil salesman.

I'm not talking about huge purchases, some slightly specialized, yes, but right down to the daily shit... for the love of god! Why is this so hard?

Todays item is called Mold release. If you are like 95% of the Ottawans I have asked about this product this last week, you will be sitting there right now saying huh?

Simply, when you make something out of fibreglass, its usually in or on a mold. To stop your glass sticking to the mold forever, you apply a release agent. which is a fancy name for non-stick shit that comes as a wax, paste or even in an aerosol.

I'm building a boat, my first one. I was getting tired of crashing planes and decided that a boat would calm me down, relax me, remove the evil stress from my body... and to really enjoy it, I'm building it from scratch.

Great plan, but wait a sec... materials. Hmmm... nothing too spectacular....

  • Fibreglass
  • Carbon fibre tube and cloth
  • Wood
  • Some fittings
  • Radio gear

Straight back to the rockinghorse shit my friends. Oh, I have discovered that I no longer have the ability to use Google correctly. I will have a bloody stroke before getting results that are of any use. Hey, the designer of my boat, sitting in his villa in France had more luck than me. Most of that, I am convinced, is because Canada businesses decided not to go with that Google thing, as it probably wouldn't catch on.

So the short of it is this week has been spent driving all over the city in frustration, looking for the most benign items, talking to people who for the most part, think I am from another planet. I might as well be for the results.

So fuck you Ottawa.
----------------------------
It's the start of a 3 day weekend, Civic holiday. Not bad, always keen for a day off. I could hmmmm, i don't know, maybe glass my boat? Fat chance.

I saw this interesting Indian ritual has made it to the headlines... Dropping babies off the temple
Michael Jackson dangled his off a balcony and world gasped! These guys have been doing the real deal for 700 years!

Thanks to Matt for showing me this interesting vid of the Hoff The Hoff drunk and trying to eat a burger... and why he is such a legend in Germany... I can't fight this feeling...

Later...

Welcome

It's official... I'm an angry old man.

Not so much a surprise but more of a revelation, like finding god... if there was such a thing.

Do I care? Not one bit. The whole freakin' world can bite me.

So what is this?

This... dear reader, is nothing more than a narcissistic rant, the ramblings of a salty old bastard who hates everything and everyone and is not afraid to tell you so.

Can't deal with it? See ya...

Curious? Keep reading...

Got something to say, well say it.

Welcome...
